Help need but don't know where to start

    Hi All
I have spent weeks reading all the posts on here to find a solution to my problem. I am now ready to throw the pc out of the window. I am really hoping someone can help me out but i will say at this stage i have no advanced computer knowledge. Here goes.........
First signs were changes to my google chrome browser (they disappeared) I cant play any media files as i get the error No such supported interface. Cant make any changes to firewall. System protection is disabled and i cant do a system restore as it says its turned off by administrator.
    I followed a post to delete a file called DisableSR.REG_DWORD in HKEY.Localmachin\software\polices\microsoft\windows\windowsNT\systemrestore.
When i delete it i can gain access to system protection and turn on system restore but as soon as pc reboots after install its all back to normal with error message system restore has been turned off by administrator.
I am sorry for waffling on but i'm tired and fed up.
    Can anyone help me???
    Sharon

Hi and thanks for the reply. It is a personal pc. The problem with playing media is not in any browser its when i try to play a file from a folder on my desktop for example. I think i might have some kind of malware but i have ran every program going to try and get rid of the problem but nothing is working. System protection is turned off and i cant turn it on.

From what I can see the Windows installation is counterfeit, an OEM_SLP on a retail motherboard in a custom build. That copy should come pre-loaded on factory built PCs. I'll wait for clarification on that.

Well, your System Specs show an ASUS motherboard but Product ID points toward a Dell machine, your copy of Windows may be counterfeit. I will ask an experienced member to look into this thread and guide you as I am new in this kind of troubleshooting.

Edit: Boozad beat me to it :)

Scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free if you haven't already. I can't help much more before Boozad gives it a go, I am afraid.

My only advice here would be to reinstall Windows using a genuine copy if it is in fact a counterfeit installation in place.
