Computer can't boot anymore - Problem signature 05: BadPatch

Hey everyone,

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T410 laptop running Windows 7, 32-bit. This morning, I used it to check my e-mails and it lagged hard, so I left it there a couple of minutes. When I came back, it seemed to go fine, so I just decided to shut it down and take it to work to read my e-mails from there. (I didn't notice if it shut down properly or not; I left it on my desk and came back a couple of minutes later to put it in my bad)

When I tried to boot it from there, the screen went black right after the Windows flag logo. I restarted it, running the Startup Repair this time and it gave me this problem log:

I looked up on some forums in search of answers to the problem and found out it was most likely due to a Windows (or Avast?) patch that couldn't be completed or was done the wrong way. As I said earlier, I didn't see if my laptop shut down properly, I wasn't there, so it is possible that it is because of this.

To try fix this problem, I tried to boot in safe mode, but like some others, it hanged when loading \Windows\System32\Drivers\aswRvrt.sys. It hanged at the same spot while trying to boot in the three safe mode alternatives (Safe Mode, Safe Mode with low graphics and Command Prompt through Safe Mode, I think). I also tried to boot from the parameters from the last time it booted up successfully, but it black screened after the Windows flag logo. I set the BIOS settings back to default, even though I don't recall ever changing them.

When I try to restore the system to a restoration point, it simply says no restoration points were ever created on this computer (I never really thought about activating System Protection feature, so it probably was off and if it's the case, I guess there really are no restoration points on my laptop). When I try to restore the system to factory system image, it says there are none on the computer, which is a bit more confusing, because I don't recall receiving a Windows 7 installation DVD. I bought the computer with Windows 7 already installed on it, so I thought for sure that there would be a pre-installed factory image I could use.

I also tried a couple things with cmd.exe:

Both were successful but it still black screened.

Again, it said it was successful and that the pending actions would be reverted once the computer would restart but it didn't.

I also tried to go back to a previous saved point using the DEFAULT, SAM, SECURITY, SOFTWARE and SYSTEM in the RegBack directory (even though I didn't know how it would respond with the restoration points disabled). The files in the RegBack directory were dated from 5 days ago (June 25th), so I guess it could have worked, but their size was a lot different. I tried it anyway and it didn't help at all, so I reverted the changes.

I'm starting to think that the problem could also be a physical/internal problem. I read somewhere that the BadPatch problem could also be caused by a misplaced of disfunctionnal RAM module, or by a damaged HD. I just want to try everything I can before I go buy new parts. I want to know if there is anything I can do, through the Startup Repair, BIOS, F8 menus or with the Command Prompt. I'd also like to know if there is a way to re-install Windows 7 without having a factory image pre-installed on the computer and without an installation CD/DVD.

EDIT: Just thought about it, so I figured I could had it here. I tried to boot it up with only the battery and only the cable plugged in, it didn't change anything. I would also like to point out that if you guys think the solution is to recover to a factory image, I'm willing to do it. I will only need to copy and paste important stuff through cmd.exe, but I'm fine with it. I still would prefer a quicker and easier way to do it, but if it's the only way, I'll do it.

I also notice you do not have SP-1 installed.
Your will also need SP-1 and all needed Windows 7 updates installed.
