Open Window moves behind another open Window

    Hello,

When I'm working sometimes the current window I am working in will shift/move behind another open window. It will continue to move till I minimize all open windows. A friend suggested it was a memory issue but I don't think so because I'm the only user on the computer to have the issue.

    Thank you

How many windows are you getting?

You can hit ALT and TAB key together, that will show all the windows open, then click on the one you want on top.

It happens when I have alot of Windows open and it a singular Window that will go from the front to the back. Whenever I bring it back to the front it shifts again to the back. ALT TAB works but it is inconvenient to have to do it each time I want to work in the program.

Something is "stealing the window focus" I think. Why do you have so many windows open - just convenience or do you need them all open?

How many windows do you have open at the same time?

Can you test with just 2 or 3 windows to see if it the problem is related to a large number of windows open or specific windows (programs) running?

Convenience/need because I have different excel sheets open at the same time which I jump from to get the information I need for the program X which has the window that flees. I usually have up to 5 excel documents open plus the program in addition to a web browser. When less windows are open I do not have the problem. That is the reason why my friend thinks it is a memory issue.

Run MemTest86+ Do at least 6 - 8 passes. If it comes up okay, then memory is good. Download is near bottom of page Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool . You want the ISO. Do you have a spare USB stick you can load this on to?

Try a clean startup (usually solves focus stealing apps, as Bumkin suspected) - Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
