computer shutting down after power outage

We recently had a power outage in town and a guy bought me his computer (Acer desktop Windows 7) because it was freezing up all the time.

I ran a chkdisk, did a startup repair, ran sfc and used system restore. It's working a lot better but it randomly shuts down. One time on the Internet and another time I was trying to defrag.

The following is the event viewer notice for the problem:

    Log Name: Application
    Source: Microsoft-Windows-WMI
    Date: 7/16/2015 10:19:27 AM

Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

I did some research and found similar issues reported by others except they don't mention the system restarting. Still I downloaded a Microsoft fixit. Any other suggestions on what might of went wrong?

Is it restarting or shutting down?

Did you clean the heatsinks/fans and possible dust inside the case?
Get HWInfo or similar software to keep track of temps.

Restarting issue can be the GPU. Is it possible to test in Safe Mode, and then Safe Mode with Networking?

It was shutting down. And I did clean out the dust. HWInfo installs but will not run. it gets stuck at checking the hard drive. I also tried speedfan - again will not run. I ran a Microsoft fixit program I found this morning and since then the computer hasn't shut off. I'm not sure if I should mark this as solved or wait until the owners give it a test run. I'll wait and see. I'll keep you updated. Thanks for the reply GokAy.

You can try starting HWInfo in sensor mode.

You can mark as solved if you wish, it is possible to come back and un-mark it anytime.
