Taskbar icons on 125% scaling are jagged / blurry

    Hi there,

I recently got a 1440p (25 inches only) monitor and so I adjusted scaling to 125% to make it easier for me to use Windows 7.

However in some cases, the icons of third party applications are jagged. I will list the circumstances where this is/ is not the case:
    a) Only third party applications, icons like Windows Explorer are unaffected.
    b) Only when 'never combine' is turned on
    c) Only when the application is open - does not appear when they are closed and the icon only is displayed
    d) Doesn't happen to Foobar for some reason

See this image for an illustration. Ignore the Xonar DGX icon, that's always been ugly (but again only when I open it - perhaps someone can help with that too?)

Is this a known issue or is there a way around it? Thanks.

I would guess the icons are up-scaled from smaller versions and so look jagged. The ones that look nice possibly have larger icons. (Perhaps you can change the icons for those that you don't like to custom ones, there should be icon packs out there but I have no experience using them.)

    Use maximum resolution.

Check for Windows Updates to install all Important and Optional Updates which may include a better driver and patches needed to make Win7 perform better.

If neither help then check for newer driver on the Support Downloads webpage for the PC or Display device model.
