I would go to the HP support
and find out for myself if there are Windows 7 drivers for it. The salesman just might be lazy and get no commission from getting you free W7 media.

Yep Laptops could be a challenge but usually some of the H-P bloatware might not work or some touchpad features...
No telling but as already posted the exact model number and possibly even the snid would make it easier to find what is on the laptop :/

Many games can be run in Windows 7 emulation mode successfully. Check the web site for the games in question and see if anyone else has go them working on Windows 8.1.

You really are better off staying with 8.1, just add Classic Shell of similar and you should be all set as far as useability is concerned.

Also, there is a Gaming forums for Windows 8.1, see here: Gaming - Windows 8 Forums

Just follow these steps to Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7.

If there was any driver that was not found for someone doing the above, we would have heard about it. In thousands of cases I haven't seen a single case where drivers could not be found for Win7 when downgraded from Windows 8. In fact I can't remember a driver that could not be found for Win7 ever.

People who make these claims have XPired driver knowledge. Windows 7 provides almost all of its drivers and any that are missing after install can easily be found by googling the Device + OS, tracing Hardware Identification if necessary, or asking back here. One of the best driver detectives there is Maxie has already posted in the thread above and always ready.
