Saving passwords on computer builds for customers.

How does everyone remember what passwords are used for somebody's computer that you built or install software to? What if the user forgets and calls you for the info?

Should I save a notepad file on my computer of all passwords that I've used for builds/installs?

    Hi,
I guess you could do that
You might have an issue if the user changes the password on you later

With win-10 coming out and connecting with outlook.com/ Hotmail.. looks like it might get even more interesting :)

The simplest way would be to use the customer's name as the password.
Obviously you should strongly encourage the customer to change the passwords ASAP.

Another option would be to use the order/receipt number as a password.

How many users? Enough to justify a domain controller? If so, you'd have full control over credentialing.

Just for friends and family that you would build, fix or remove spyware for.

My cousin called me and he couldn't download/install something because he forgot the password. He texted me back saying he did eventually remember it.
