Windows slow startup and weird icon in system tray

Guys can you help me, I've been looking for this problem all over the net and I can't find anything about it. Windows desktop screen starts very slow sometimes it needs between 5-10 minutes for all the processes to start working normally and during that time there is a weird looking icon in the system tray, when I hoover over it there is no information and I can't double click it or right click it for more information. If I try that I only freeze the computer more. Any clues?

...and it will safe me a lot of time if you know what the icon represents, because that computer is not mine and I can't try different things.

Are you able to click on the task manager and look at processes?
