W 10 Questions from Sr. Citizen, and also on (best) Desktop brands

Is there going to be a separate W10 sub-forum, or is there already and I have
just not seen it ?

Not too sharp with this, so please bear with me.

Running W7 Home Premium now, the 64 bit version.
Old Desktop PC, so not sure, but the Windows might also say "Professional".

If I get a new desktop with 10, what do I want to get for the Windows version ?

They don't seem to have a separate 64 bit Home version, or do they ?

Should I just order with their "Home" version ?

I do no gaming. Just the typical Sr. Citizen kinda stuff; lots of internet use, though, organizing photos of Grandkid, etc.

Not sure what Windows 10 vers. to get.

And, there seem to be quite a few, but what site offers the "best" and non-biased opinions as
to the most reliable Desktops these days ?

any opinions on which is "best" ?

have an HP Pavilion now; so-so components; seem to have a 3 year life. Is this typical ?

I would consider another HP. How are they thought of these days ?

Great Forums; really appreciate all the help I've gotten over the years.

Windows 10 has its own sister-forum to this one -

Windows 10 for PC comes in only 2 public flavours - Windows 10, and Windows 10 Pro - in either 32-bit or 64-bit.

I would suggest that you go for the Home edition - it's unlikely that you'll need the bells and whistles of Pro.

Desktops should have a virtually indefinite life - more will fail within the first month than in the next 5 years (except for accidental damage/power spokes/lightning/etc ) while with laptops 3-4 years is considered the norm for replacement (mine is coming up on 4 years old now, and shows it!)

As far as manufacturers go, it's more a case of which to avoid than anything else - but try to avoid the bottom of the range in whichever manufacturer you choose, as these are built to a price, rather than a spec, and tend to use sub-par components as a result.
I'm not up to date on hardware, so I'll leave recommendations on that to others.
