Ubuntu Windows 7 dual-boot, Windows 7 logo animation problems

I have installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit alongside Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OS in dual-boot configuration with GRUB 2.02beta2. Both OSs are up to date; however, occasionally I do not get the animated Windows logo in the Windows 7 boot-up and a distorted screen is displayed instead until I am presented with the login screen. This issue was non-existent before my Ubuntu installation and I am not able to fix it. I should also note that the Windows 7 boots up, but this artefact is really annoying. So far I have tried a command on the Windows 7 console but it did not resolve the issue. By the way I experience this problem occasionally and in these cases mostly the laptop is running on battery power. My laptop brand and model is Dell Latitude E5440, respectively. Any help and/or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the answer, may I also ask how do you think this is relevant? Do you think it has something to do with customizing the GRUB boot loader screen, a possible GRUB update or something missing in Windows that can be diagnosed with say SFC scan? Actually the weirdest thing about the issue is sometimes everything is completely normal, I have no explanation for this.

I've been dual-booting Windows 7 and various Linux distros since Windows 7 came out (well before, in fact, since I was involved in testing). I have never experienced anything like what you describe. Did you customize grub (you hint at that below)? Have you tried update-grub?

I have customized GRUB background and fonts; however I do not particularly remember if I started having this problem before customization or after it.

Maybe some Windows file(s) got corrupted (coincidentally) around the time you installed Ubuntu.

I used to run Ubuntu (triple boot with XP & W7) and now I run Linux Mint (dual boot with W7) and I haven't seen the issue you are having.

Today I had 2 normal boots and 1 problematic boot just as I described. I tried SFC around half an hour ago and it said "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

Remember to disconnect your PC from the Mains before playing around with the internal components.

Well I am not exactly sure of it since it is on warranty and not my property I may have these connections checked by the IT department of my university which may resolve the issue. Thanks for the advice, do you have anything else in mind?
