I can't run any program as Administrator

    Hello,

I recently dealt with a minor malware issue, uninstalled and cleared out Google Chrome of some "isurf" or sth similar which was on my Chrome a start page.

The issue I have now is I can't run anything as administrator... I cannot get into My Computer/Manage to get into regedit, Command can't run as admin, Run/regedit or Run/msconfig for that matter.

This is really annoying and I have tried all the solutions here, but none of them worked.

Apart from re-installing Windows (as this is a company lap-top), is there anything I can do to make this thing go away?

I hate this McAfee AV, btw :)

    Thanks in advance!

EDIT: When I double-click to open programs or .exe files normaly (not right-click/Run as Admin), nothing happens.

I cant really tell as I cannot get into "Change User Account Settings" nor into "Manage User Accounts" as it requires an Adnmin privilege.

I need to stress I was able to do so up until yesterday, and suddenly everything went south...

I know that you said, "Command can't run as admin", but does the command prompt window open?

    click on the Start Orb/button
type cmd in the search field
    once the cmd shortcut appears...
...right click on it and select run as admin

Does a command prompt window open?
If so, is the word administrator in the title?

I'm wondering if the infection somehow managed to set your account to a Standard and turn the UAC off. That combination prevents certain admin actions (e.g. nothing happens via run as admin for some operations). However, a Standard user account with the UAC turned off can still open the Computer Management window via right-click Computer > Manage.

    Hi UNI,

cmd/Run as Admin is not openning the Command. I can open Command by clicking on it and the title says "C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe", which is nice. Once I type "regedit" or similar and hit Enter, I get "The specified service does not exist as an installed service".

Additionally, "Computer>Manage" pops up the same notification "The specified service does not exist as an installed service"

If you (or the IT staff) has a Windows 7 DVD, then enable the built in administrator account from within WinRE and log on to that account to run SFC scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Because this a a company computer I would suggest not making any changes until you get permission from the company or their I.T. department.
