There might be some win-8 pro upgrade disks around which are typically a little cheaper because they require a qualifying windows install to be present to use them,
Not sure if Vista is one of the qualifying version though ?
Can't remember better ask and get assurances of that before you buy and if they're wrong a refund.

My Vista is an OEM copy, so does that qualify?

The version Walmart has is reg W8.1 full version. I just have been afraid of hating W8 and never though it was worth upgrading because I am not a touch screen guy. Don't have a tablet but I have been using a windows phone for a while now.

There are several articles like this Microsoft confirms it's dropping Windows 8.1 support | InfoWorld

Post a link to the product your thinking of buying
OEM doesn't matter that is pretty normal
The only question is Vista on the qualifying existing os list ? looks like it is.

I think I’m just getting my panties all in a bunch overt his. I only wanted W8 because someone I trust said RX4 ran better than 7 and I only want to upgrade so I can make use of the 4g of memory I bought hoping that the expanded memory will help in the RX4 errors. Because the large files I try to process are the worse. It was suggested by Izotope support that memory maybe the issue. I only want a full version because I just did a clean install and don’t want to do it again

Then issues with 8.1 got me all confused.
