Windows 7: Screensaver canceling Power Save options after idle time

Screensaver canceling Power Save options after idle time

Hello experts, I do hope you can help me once again. I am completely confused by this issue and am unsure how to even proceed.

To start, as the title says the screen saver and the Turn off Monitor option do not seem to be playing along well. They work just fine independently however, i usually let the screen saver kick in at 5 minutes and the monitor turn off after 10 minutes. What is happening although, the screensaver kicks in just fine, and when the monitor timer expires, they turn off as needed but then are suddenly interrupted and cancels both the screen saver and the monitor turn off.

After researching what I could, (google has not been friendly in this case), I have tried the wireless mouse fix and the issue continued, I have connected a wired mouse, same result. After many reboots and trial and errors, I have reached a desperate state here because I hate when my monitors run all day when I am not at home.

Thank you all for reading and reaching out to help. Any other information I can provide, I will do so as needed.

EDIT: After some more poking, I think I have found that the system is registering the change between the screen saver and the monitor as an "activity" similar to a mouse movement or keystroke. Can anyone confirm this as a thing?

Check the Screen Saver
NOTE: Some screen savers can interfere with the computer’s ability to go into and come out of sleep/standby mode. Disabling or changing the screen saver may resolve the problem.
1. In the Screen saver settings, select an alternate screen saver, or set it to None, then click on OK.

2. Test sleep mode.
So try with another screen saver just in case (preferably with one of MS own screen savers).

Turn off the screen saver. It's useless. So if it's causing problems, why tolerate it?

I have power options set to turn off the monitors after a specified idle period. The screens go black. No screen saver. No problems.

Thank you for your replies, after testing out what you guys provided, I think just setting the screen to turn off is the best way to go about fixing this issue. It is one of MS own screen savers, its the 3d Text SS and i just had it displaying the time. Quite Odd. Thank you for the help.

My screensaver and my power options are constantly chan
I set my screensaver to "Photos" but it is automatically being reset to "None". The same with my Power options. I set the monitor to never shut down. But then it is being reset to 20 minutes. My suspicion is that this happens when I change the Desktop background - but not always. Any ideas?
