Dell INSPIRON 15R 5525 Battery Replacement

Well while running Dell's maintenance software it showed that my battery was failing hmm. I have never used the laptop w/o it being plugged into the Ac charger and when used probably under a hour a day. It was new in 2013.

Does anyone know how Dell determines how the status of a battery is? Perhaps its just how old the battery is? I doubt that Dell's software actually has a Volt/Amp load tested built into the laptop??

With that all said if I do have to buy a battery who would handle the best bang for the buck? I see that the prices are all over the place ;-)

You see prices all over the place because batteries (and the chips that control them) are complicated. It is easy for unscrupulous sellers to use low quality battery cells and/or batteries without any charge/discharge protection circuits (fire hazard). It is also easy for sellers to buy low quality junk and sell it at high prices since consumers seem to think that paying more gets them a better product.

You can keep using the existing battery until it completely fails. I'll let others suggest a vendor. I get replacement batteries from Dell - because I use an employer owned Dell laptop.
