Screensaver not working all of a sudden.

I have Windows 7 and just yesterday the screensaver stoped working, I do not have a animated one, just times out to login after 1 minute.

I have restarted the pc and I do not have any wireless devices. I do not start anything when the pc starts up and enter my login like normal, then wait and wait for ages and do not use or touch the pc. But it just will not time out and go to the login screen.

Can anyone suggest what I can try to fix this ?

I have done a full check of updates and installed all available updates shown. apart from the additional ones for now.

    Select "None" as the screensaver...
...remove the check by "On resume, display logon screen"
...and OK your way out of the dialog box.

Then go back and select the screensaver settings of interest.

I've seen those steps get the attention of the Windows OS after some updates.

I've also seen those steps fail :-(

    Hi,

I have tried that many times and wish I had a hammer!

I now have all drives unplugged and just a mouse and keyboard. The mouse is USb and keyboard is the rounded type plug.

    Still no luck.

Hammers for Windows computers can be found at the Apple Store

Select "Blank" as the screensaver, leave 1 minute for the time and apply that. If the screen does not go blank after 1 minute then the mouse might be to blame. You can try to update any software related to the mouse.

You can also try these steps.

ok they something strange going on here...

I tried to update the drivers, not needed, was up-to-date.

I then plugged everything back in (external hard drives and scanner) then unplugged the mouse and waited for about 2 minutes. I gave up and went to plug the mouse back in and the pc went to login screen as i plugged the mouse in.

    Going to try this again...

Very strange, try a system restore and see what happens.
