    Need help with missing msvcr120.dll

Running Win 7 Pro 86 bit and recently tried to install a spam fighter for my TBird mail client. During the install process a popup indicated that msvcr120.dll is missing from the pc. I have Googled the .dll and find multiple ways to install it , but most come with complexity or potential corruption issues, or ant you to install a registry cleaner.

Can anyone suggest a proven, safe way to install/restore this file? And how critical is the file to proper operation of the Operating System?

    TIA,

    Frank

That file is the Visual C++ runtime 2013. As always, use the official installer to get it:
Download Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 from Official Microsoft Download Center

If your OS is 64 bits, make sure to install both the x86 and x64 versions.

This file is not critical at all, but some programs require it (depending on what tools have been used to develop it). If you happen to use a program that uses it, like in your case, it must be installed for it to work.
