Things to do on a good pc besides game and photoshop

    Hello,

I have a lenovo h50-50 desktop and am taking a break from games at the moment as well as not wanting to do Photoshop either.

    Specs are pretty decent:

    Intel core i3 4160 cpu (3.6 GHz)
    8GB RAM
    1TB HDD
    Windows 7 Professional
    Intel HD 4400 graphics

I have done research on this before and people say watch movies, photoshop, etc. The truth is though, I don't really like watching movies or photoshop. Are there any ways I can use my PC's processing power while having fun still without gaming?

    Hi
There's always Blender to learn if not already
    https://www.blender.org/

Otherwise throw an ssd in it and I'm sure it will be even better :)

You could try your hand at programming. Visual Studio Express is free. But it does require some horsepower to run the IDE and do builds etc..

With scripting languages such as Autohotkey you can program even on a Laptop. That is why I suggested Visual Studio. There are other IDEs that use C++ that aren't as arduous to install such as Ultra++.

Here is one list of free programming tools to get you started:

    Hi,
You could also play with win-10 for free by joining the insiders program if you haven't already

You could tinker with Rainmeter, desktop customization tool

Be advised that Rainmeter can and has been known to become addicting.

You can also play with virtual machines using Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare.

For instance, I have the following VMs on my Lenovo K450 running Windows 10 Pro X64, 16GB Ram, 250GB SSD, 1.5 and 2 TB drives.

They are all legal and allow me to try things on just about any Microsoft OS. Great for trying things when answering question in various forums.
