I am unable to select an Aero theme.
I'm assuming that's what the Themes with the Transparent Taskbars are called?
Apologies for the short response. I am kinda taking baby steps at this point in time.

Well, you could be done with this faster perhaps if you repair install (link in previous post). You will later need to re-install device drivers and Windows Updates.

Go for the sfc scan now, and lets decide after the result. The issues you are having now, may very well be some services not being started or due to corruption. Unnecessary to speculate as of now.

I've tried the sfc scan. However, it does not run, saying :
Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

Did you run cmd as admin before trying to scan?

Run Services.msc. Find "Windows Modules Installer" service. Set its Startup type to Manual. Then start it.

Okay, I did that, it's doing that scan... I will update to tell you if anything's different or not.
I'm a bit hesitant in starting the Repair Install method, if it does come to that. While I can follow instructions, I'm not entirely sure I want to tackle it myself...

Alright, also run in that cmd (right after scan finish):
    Code:
    findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >"%userprofile%\desktop\sfcdetails.txt"
and attach the sfcdetails.txt here (it will be on your desktop).

Oooh... Is that something I'm going to have to copy and paste?
I'm on my laptop right now typin' this stuff in while my computer's doin' the do.
I'm not going to be able to do any copy/pasting stuff, because I can't really get onto the Internet with my computer. Even on Safe Mode with Networking.

    EDIT: The scan has finished.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix them.

You should be able to write manually, no special chars in there, or you can simply transfer with a txt file on a USB drive, plenty of options there)

    Okay, I got it!
LOTS of stuff in the document! But how can I possibly put it here? As I mentioned before, I'm unable to access the internet on my computer, so I can't copy/paste it, nor attach the file here...

It was mentioned that there were a few files that could not be repaired. A few instances of corrupt files being repaired.
Unfortunately, I do not have a USB drive on hand...
It would take me too long to type everything in. And odds are, I would probably end up flubbing up at a certain point if I were to do so.

EDIT: I'm not gonna do anymore work on it... I'll be headin' out tomorrow for the week, so I won't be able to do anything more on the computer.
I will try a little bit more when I get back, but I might have to try and see if I can someone...

I won't be marking this as solved though, as the problem still persists!
I do thank you for helping though. Just wish there was more I could try and do.

    I understand Kraken.

Don't you even have 1 lousy USB flash drive (no need for a USB HDD)? Or write to a CD if you must :)
If you can, attach the file using the paperclip icon next to the smiley icon right above.

I won't post any more until you update the thread.

    Take care
