Password and user disappeared from pc

    Hi,
I hope this is the right section for this question.
I have an Acer all in one touchscreen computer which I have had from new.
I have recently moved home and my computer has been switched off & on it's back for just over 2 months.
I set it up last night and although all my folders (pictures, music etc.) are still there, it went straight to Windows without asking for my password. I then noticed that my user profile & name was no longer on the system?
Please can someone explain how this has happened? I have reset the password again now but I am a bit concerned as to how and why it disappeared in the first place.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

What version of Windows do you have?

Are you sure you have logged in to your regular account? Those folders are default for all users, so may not be an indication. When you click Start Menu what does it say as user name? Also open Control Panel - Manage users to see if your account is there but disabled? You can then run netplwiz (another way to see some accounts), is it there?

Then browse to C:\Users and see if there is a folder for your old account (which actually has your folders/files)?

I switched on the PC & it went straight to Windows. I checked the Manage Users & the only one there was User, which was listed as Administrator. There was no other users at all.

So, what version of Windows (Home/Home Premium/Pro/Ult etc)?
Did you check the C:\users folder for your account? Post a screenshot of it perhaps. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

Its Windows Home. I did look in the C;\Users folder and all that was there was the User account. I am at work at the moment so will try and do a screenshot later on.

User is not a default account in Windows, and some OEM PC's do have user as the default username while setting up the system I believe.

See Option 2 of User Account - Enable or Disable to check whether User is enabled (it may have a different name, possibly yours), enable it if not. And log off, then on welcome screen login with your user account.

Ok I will try that when I get home. If it has been disabled does that mean someone has gone into my computer or is it just something that Windows does from time to time?

I wouldn't know, check event viewer (eventvwr.msc) for times when the PC was supposed to be boxed.

Run Event Viewer (Win+R then eventvwr.msc)
Expand Windows logs then Security - check the dates of the events for when the PC was supposed to be off.
