I haven't seen that in any of Cooler Masters' line up, either way, conventional DVD burners are just 20 dollars a pop, so why not slap one in? A little more than that and you gain the flexibility of Blue-Ray to burn beyond the 4.5gig limit.

I think it's insane. I took part in the Windows 10 Beta and then upgraded to 10 only to find myself calling Microsoft and begging them to put me back to Windows 8. I think Win 10 is about the most reprehensible excuse for an operating system ever designed by Microsoft and would use their Mistake Edition (if it were possible) before I'd ever consider returning to Windows 10. If I can't use Windows 7 on the Broadwell system I plan to build it's gonna have to be "hello, Linux" because I'm just about done with these Micky mouse tablet operating systems they keep churning out for desktops.

    (only my opinion)

    I`m befuttled

I mean it`s not like any manufacturer makes a board for a certain OS, unless I`m missing something here.

If I remember clearly Intel has stopped supporting Windows 7 for the Skylake processors.

    Hi,
I don't have skylake but AddRam does and z170 sabertooth and as far as he's posted win-7 works
Even Intel and Microsoft has backtracked and have indeed said they will support win-7 for skylake for at least another year or two ?

Most manufacture have made special installers to add the needed usb3 driver to the installation media

    I have a Gigabyte Z170 MB and a i5 6600k and I'm running Win 7 HP 64.
As new MB has only USB 3 ports and new SATA drivers that Win 7 doesn't have, you must add them to the Win 7 installation disk.
Many manufactures has a program to do so, even Intel.

Well you didn`t try hard enough.

And the issue is not with Skylake, the issue is with the Windows 7 installer, it does not support usb 3.0 during the install, but it never has.

Plug your mouse and keyboard into your usb 2.0 slots and use a dvd to install Windows 7, you will be done in 15 minutes like the rest of the world.

If you have to install with a usb stick, then just create an installer with integrated usb 3.0 drivers with the software that 99% of the board makers offer.

I also just upgraded my cpu/ram/mobo to Skylake and am in the process of installing W7 x64. Took me a while messing with Gigabyte's packaged usb drivers combined with a usb install drive, but because it would not let me prepare my ssd the way I liked (WITHOUT the useless 100mb system reserve partition that you can't remove), I instead just installed w7 the traditional way with the dvd. Install went fine, no issues.

However, my question now is how do I get my usb ports (any of them) to work with anything other than mouse and keyboard? I would download the USB drivers from Gigabyte, but my LAN driver is located on my 2TB wd Passport that I cannot currently access.

The workaround for the System partition has been the same since Windows 7 was released - It will not overwrite existing partitions. Create as many partitions as you need before you start and don't leave any spare space and the installer will not create a system partition. simply select the windows partition you wish to use during the install process
