~30 second freezing at windows 7 startup screen

    Hi everyone,
I recently did some updating on my computer and have run into a minor problem...nothing serious, but more of a nuisance if anything. Whenever I start up windows, either from a cold boot or restarting, the program hangs and freezes for about 30 seconds before logging me into the desktop.

I had recently updated my video drivers (switchable intel hd3000, and radeon hd 7690m), as well as my chipset drivers. These were drivers which are not on the HP website, so I had to go to intel and amd to find them. Could this perhaps be the problem?

I've noticed reoccurring errors and warnings on bootup in the event log as well, and suspect they may be a factor. I would rather try to fix the problem with the errors and see if the issue is resolved than changing the drivers again.

    I'm running windows 7 home premium, 64bit. HP envy 15 3040nr

I think that you probably have answered your own question. Many times the manufacturer does slight mods to drivers for their own settings.

I'm going to switch the graphics drivers back...they crashed as I tried to open a game up recently. Hopefully this will have an impact on the freezing issue at startup as well.
