Ever since the last update on my computer the display setting will not save and is always getting set back to 15 mins. Even when I go in and change it back to never I'll come back to my screens off and the, turn off the display" set to 15. It's never done this before till the last update windows 7 got.
Can you do a system restore to immediately before the update in question and see if that cures the problem. If it does just download the update again and let it run. The update might have got corrupted when first downloading! You didn't turn your PC off accidently while the download was taking place did you you?
Never heard of an update doing anything to your monitor timeout settings.
Set it back to default settings, save changes, reboot the pc.

can't do a system restore it seems. The updates where on the 14th and the only day it shows i can restore to is the 18th. It just seems to be random when doing this. Got home turned it on was set to 15 mins so I turn it back to never but left the screen up with it showing never. didn't turn off once. tho I havn't let it stand alone.
The only other main thing I can think of that I changed was I started using bitdefender tho I don't see anything in it that would affect the sleep timer.
What anti virus were you running before you installed Bitdefender? If you had an A/V before did you uninstall it before installing Bitdefender? If you did what method did you use to uninsstall it?
After all these changes make sure you reboot a couple of times.
Then look and see if the wanted settings stayed as they were set.
Have you considered making changes to the policy settings to see if they override the power management settings in control panel?
It seems to me that you would want you monitor to turn off in about 15 minutes. You sure don't want it to stay on all the time.
And check your system restore space, if windows is not creating restore points then something`s wrong or you do not have enough space allocated.
