Remove Java from Startup
Does anyone know how to remove java from startup. I know I can untick it in msconfig but I would rather see if i can disable it first. If not then I will do this as a last resort. Any help appreciated.

If Ryan's tip doesn't stop it, check the settings in the Update Tab of his screen shot.
That entry in MSconfig could also be just the updater and from memory, it ignores what you change in MSconfig anyway.
I use ccleaner for all my cleanup and disable needs. Its free and cool because startup programs can be disabled instead of just deleting then if you ever need it, it can be re enabled. The registery cleaner works good too, I've never had an issue with it. I've used it in windows xp, vista 32/64, and 7 32/64.

First of all thanks for the help. I have tried what you have both suggested and still the same. Any other suggestions.
You can remove it using Regedit. This is the "proper" way instead of msconfig.
It's at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
