    NT CRT DLL message

This message pops up randomly 2 or 3 times a day ...

WINDOWS NT CRT DLL has stopped working

There is an "X" on the window that can be clicked to dismiss the message.
The PC (Windows 7 Ultimate) checks clean for malware.
Can anyone explain the reason for the message and how to stop it appearing ? Thank you.
