Acer aspire 2930z on loading to startup repair

Hello & thank you for taking the time in reading into my problem.

I have owned my acer aspire 2930z from new for about 4 years.

Since I have had it, I installed Windows 7 as vista that came with it was always leaving me with tonnes of viruses. Windows 7 was a copy from a friend.

I have not used the laptop for a good while but now it just boots up to the startup repair. Dosent seem to go any further. Please note: Pressing F2 when it starts up & pressing F8 functions still work.
It always seems to get hot quickly & powers off completely after about 20-30 minutes ( I have noticed the fan making a different noise than it used too.

When I power the laptop I need to constantly use the power cable as the battery only last minutes. I know this needs replacing. I noticed when I used it at some point last year that the disc drive would not work. It makes a noise but don't think it's reading discs. Again this will be on my list of parts.

What I would like to be able to do is get some advice on getting it fired up. I then would like to completely wipe the laptop & start again from fresh. I understand I need to purchase a few parts for it.

Can I also point out, when I start the laptop it boots up to Windows recovery. In the go to start Windows normally it the goes to starting Windows for about 2-3 minutes & then back to Windows error recovery.
If I repeat this, it eventually goes onto blue crash dump screen for about 10 seconds. Eventually it will go onto startup repair but says attempting repairs but never sorts anything.
