I do a very careful check of all the updates/patches presented nowadays & anything that has to do with 10, might have to do with 10, hints at being related to 10 or, what's getting to be normal occurrence lately, a patch that has no explanation from MS as to what it does, all these are avoided.

Thanks MS, I now have to spend my patch Tuesdays researching every patch you issue to make sure you don't hijack my system.

    Only 4?

That is why I let the updates install automatically on the dozens of computers that I oversee. I'm depending on various registry settings to prevent W10 from installing.

    Yep, only 4.

Haven't had any attempts to install 10 in several weeks. Those tweaks seem to work fine so far ( fingers crossed ).

I just tried everything to get W10 from my W7 Update offer. That didn't go well at all, crashes, error messages, restarts, gave up on that.
After looking around learned about ISO image on DVD, that also gave me the same error message as with the Update: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT.
It's bit too much for an old guy like me. I'm back with W7 and maybe will also install Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela, Cinnamon which is a really stable OS.

I'm not commenting on the pros and cons of Windows 7, 8.1, 10.
Windows 7 is the OS I have on 4 PCs and I'm happy with it. One reason I'm happy with W7 is that I have a lot of software I paid quite a bit of money for which runs under 7 but probably not 10.

    So:
It would be useful for those with the knowledge to post a list of those KBs that may attempt to perform an automatic "upgrade".

I haven't experienced any prompts to upgrade yet but the passion in this thread suggests it's a matter of time.

Thanks all. But isn't it annoying though. I want important security updates but don't want them disguised as anything else.
I may eventually change to Windows 10, 11... or whatever but let it be my choice. Support for applications and their development is a key OS capability.

Well I don't know. For now I'll just uncheck the recommended updates option since in my opinion, doing anything else doesn't seem necessary.
