Microsoft to users: You'll download Windows 10, and you'll like it

Yep a tad annoying :)
Yep again uncheck give me recommended updates the same way as important will help sort them properly in the optional section
If it weren't for office 2007 I would uncheck search for new/ optional software too and make life really simple and none of this upgrade... stuff would appear at all only Important updates would

If you don't have time to remove all those errant patches to make Windows 10 appear on YOUR machine without YOUR permission you can go he and download and run these scripts. I have numerous virtual machines and it can take friggin hours to remove the little blighter's.
https://github.com/WindowsLies/BlockWindows
This is a safe site but is coming under fire from Microsoft as Microsoft does not like customers getting an easy way to remove these patches. As the management has decided that in 2016 they will force updates on users having tried that once I for one am not happy about that. 3 of my machines are used as DVR's and need media center. 3 are Laptops and one of those is the wifes. Anyone in a relationship knows you do not mess with significant others PC or Laptop. She likes 7 after being persuaded to upgrade from XP Pro. My 4 main machines are used for email listening to music and running virtual machines, map and office software with some casual games. I don't want or need stupid tiles or adverts on the start menu. Programs used to have adverts in them years ago as shareware. You tried it out under advert ware and if you liked the software you bought it and got a key to unlock the features and remove ads. This is an operating system, its job is to interface between this cranky old barsteward and my hardware and software and then get out of the way. Not to display adverts........

Indianatone, Oh yeah! I know about messing with the significant others PC. Took me forever to convince my wife to let go of XP. Every time I start doing a backup or maintenance on her computer I will for sure hear "Don't you break it and don't change anything, I like just the way it is." If Windows 10 suddenly appeared on her PC my life is headed for a serious world of hurt.

Wow , thats scary . I have experience with this type of woman , she nearly finished me off but i managed to escape at the last minute .
They can be extremely dangerous and manipulative so please consider carrying a weapon of some sort in case a quick dispatch is necessary .
Good luck and please don't mess with her computer.

Ahhh Johnny, it's not THAT bad. Your experience must be quite different. She's not manipulative at all nor dangerous. If I had a weapon chances are I'd end up shooting myself in the foot or some place worse by accident.
To clarify, what I meant is I like to eat, I can't cook, she's a terrific cook, Having to eat my own cooking would be a world of hurt, rats won't go near my cooking.
Oddly enough when something goes awry in her computer she asks me to look at it, with the warning. She just likes it the way it is period. She is as good with computers as I am at cooking. Wait that's wrong I can cook a little better.
@Lady Fitzgerald, No your not and neither is she.
On Edit:
@Johnny, By the way we are both in our 70's :)

Oh OK , just be careful while drinking coffee etc.. around her computer , having her computer blue screen could mean certain death for you and i'd hate to see that , i could see the carnage now , just awful .
So you like to eat huh , yeah, i eat myself at times but it's something i'm told i have to do to stay alive , i never enjoy it though , me being an atrocious cook probably has something to do with it .
Anyways glad your OK , don't rule out sleeping with one eye open though, you can never be to careful .

How "important" are reccomended updates anyway? I should still install them, right?
