I got into the hiding of W10 prep. updates after a few had been installed, but when I uninstalled them (KB3102810 included), I lost all of the update history. Didn't lose any listing of the installed updates, just the history listing. I've not had any other repercussions from that activity. Different versions of KB3102810 must have had different effects on the various systems it "infected". This whole W10 update process has been so terribly crafted and executed, it will be a very long time before I go that route.
I wouldn't worry about that. It seems that whenever you remove a windows update client update it does somehow reset the Windows update history. It's similar to when you do a repair Install, that resets a lot of things. It won't cause any other issues though.

And I do agree, the way MS has gone about the whole 10 upgrade has been ridiculous.

MS is using the old "Annoy You Until You Comply With Our Demands" tactic:
    "Why haven't you upgraded yet?"
    "Why haven't you upgraded yet?"
    "Why haven't you upgraded yet?"
    "Why haven't you upgraded yet?"

    I notice this update I installed today, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3112336 It's a Win 8.1 update,

Moved the $WINDOWS.~BT from hidden to out in the open in the root of C,

That folder didn't even show up until 11/15 on my computer.

I don't know if the GWX changed at the same time but it doesn't say reserve anymore,

I'm curious to see how aggressive they get, I'm not worried about it though.

I install just about every update, no Bing or Skype, but I do it manually.

Yeah, there's one been released for Windows 7 too Derek:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3112343

Another Windows update client update but judging by the description looks like it's adding some additional functionality/annoyances (delete as appropriate).

Assume that you use Software Update agent to apply software updates or determine the software update compliance in System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2. Windows Update agent scans client computers periodically. In this situation, the scan fails and generates a "Not Required" state for all updates. Additionally, you receive an "8007000E" error message.
I use windows update, I don't use System Center Configuration Manager. I take it is ok to hide this. It would be pointless to install.

    Indeed.

I also like the "Bart of Darkness" version:
    Lisa:
Dad, as you know, we've been swimming and we've developed a taste for it. We both agree that getting a pool is the only way to go. Now before you respond, you must understand that your refusal will result in months and months of..
    Bart and Lisa:
Can we have a pool, dad? Can we have a pool, dad? Can we have a pool, dad? Can we have a pool, dad? Can we have a pool, dad?
    Homer:
I understand. Let us celebrate our new arrangement with the adding of chocolate to milk.

I wonder if MS would leave us alone if we gave them some chocolate milk?
