Microsoft to users: You'll download Windows 10, and you'll like it

Microsoft really wants people to get on the Windows 10 bandwagon, so much so that the company plans to start automatically downloading its new operating system to some users' computers next year.
That's an aggressive move from Microsoft, especially given the outcry earlier this month after the company did the same thing accidentally. Users who've gotten the download will still be able to opt out before it's installed on the device, and they can roll back the upgrade for as long as 31 days after making the switch to the new OS, so that's some consolation.

It's a particularly raw deal for people who are on metered Internet connections. Windows 8.1 users aren't in danger there, because that OS won't automatically download updates over a metered connection. But Windows 7 users will have to turn off automatic downloads of all recommended updates in order to avoid downloading multiple gigabytes worth of operating system.

Well, I am using it on my Dell 1545 laptop and it has many redeeming features. I am not a stickler on how it looks or operates most versions work okay. However, our two other PCs have NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 on-board graphic chips and Windows 10 will not install. They have left the billions of us out here with such graphics systems out in the cold and it appears to me they could care less about it. Guess we wait, huh?

Any program that downloads, installs or generally does anything without explicit user consent, or even worse, against user instruction, must be considered MALWARE and treated as such, plain and simple.

I am a little confused on that article. Are they going to download 10 regardless of your windows update settings?

Should everything here Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update\Change settings be unchecked except all users to install updates on this computer (I need some here to keep my system updated)?

I already have check for but let me choose whether to download them and install them selected.

update, I just found out, I can't uncheck them. They will uncheck but they check marks return when setting screen is reopened. I will go ask about this issue in the windows update forum.

IF settings were like this and win-10 installs then I would agree,
Problem is I doubt that's the case
The settings are fairly clear it's just a matter of changing them = so far
If 10 gets reclassified to Important then we may have a problem.

Come on lawyers lets sue Microsoft's ass off. We have purchased an operating system (Windows 7) and we have decided to stick with it for various reasons and you want us to overwrite Windows 7 Ultimate with the shaky steaming pile that is Windows 10. I don't think so. I'll be staying put on 7. 10 has no aero despite being the most requested feature. 10 does not have media center for recording HD TV and watching TV and DVD's. I will be going to Mint Mate rather than 10 and so will all the other PC's in my house. People who are articulate in IT are trying to avoid this crap by noting the upgrades and removing them. This behavior by Microsoft uncalled for and frankly wreaks of desperation. Maybe it is time for heads to roll and for Microsoft to change direction before they alienate their entire user base and become has been. How on earth have we gone from Windows 7 to 8, undoubtedly the worst user interface of all time to 10 which has become monitization of the desktop and mobile tile city which no one who uses Windows 7 wants. That is why the user base is staying with Windows 7.............

Indiana tone. W10 does have a hidden aero theme though.

Enable the hidden Aero Lite theme in Windows 10
