    Laptop not shutting down - NEED HELP!

    I'm trying to trouble shoot why my asus g75vw isn't shutting down.

    When I hit shutdown, it basically gets all the way to turning off the screen, but the fans and power stay on. It will stay like this until it runs out of power or I kill it.

    I'm trying to use the system configuration tool to diagnose it. When using the Diagnostic Startup option, it only has only these services running on startup.

    * Group Policy Client
    * RPC Endpoint Mapper
    * User Profile Service
    * Plug and Play
    * DCOM Server Process Launcer
    * Application Information
    * Remote Procedure Call

    When trying to shutdown, doesn't work.

    I started in safe mode, it shuts down perfectly.

    In the system configuration under diagnostic startup, when trying to check off the few services that are checked and hit apply, They re-check themselves. I can't seem to check them off.

    Could I possible get some help on what to look at next?

    Thanks.

    Have you added any any new hardware or software recently?
    Have you run a virus scan and a malware scan?
    Go to run and type "msconfig"
    Under the startup tab, make sure that nothing but your av software is allowed to start when the system turns on. It may just be a program trying to keep the laptop alive for some reason.
