    Recovery or Repair Install ???

I have a friends laptop that was totally infected. All hardware is good. Corrupted OS. I was thinking about either a recovery and just do the updates or a repair install which I have never done. I have read the tutorial on repair and my take is it just does the OS and leaves everything else in tack. What would you recommend?

Also this laptop has 7 64bit with only 2G of RAM, a 5400rpm hdd, and is used for home use. How much RAM should it have without overdoing it?

    Hello Copiman, :)

Since it's infected, I would recommend to clean install, or factory recovery if OEM, to be safe.
