Just curious, do you know that there is a private messenger function this site which we could probably use for all of us and avoid the wait times and everyone else who has had any posts in the thread will not get the annoying emails if they have that set up in notifications. Would you like to turn to using that and have Anak do the same?

Thelma, are you familiar with Windows Remote Assistance? I am and have fixed Grandpa's computer in Maine and Mom and Dad's computers in West Virginia while I sit in my house. Would you care to let me have access to your machine and drive it from here while you watch?

That is a good sign, the files do exist. Read my last message and let me know what you want to do. Anak has check out to go help his friend's widow. I have nothing better to do than help strangers and learn more myself.

Thelma, see where I have colored the text red? windows is spelled windoes and I compared that to what Anak had sent to you as a sample and that is not like yours. I'd like to think navigating to that file and correcting that may be a good shot. I am digging into a machine now to see what it will take.

Thelma, I think we have possibly struck gold. My computer has the spelling correct. So are you comfortable navigating to this folder and renaming it?

    This your folder name/path
    C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windoes-audio-audiocore-31bf3856ad364e35-6.1.7
    601.22948_none_d532e6af1471b42a

This is what it is on mine and needs to be changed to on yours.

    Attachment 375752

It's the last one of the audiocore before they change to audiodiagnostic

Cyclops, thank you so much for your help :), just let me wait for Anak to come back to me ok?

He has been helping me so greatly and it Is His thread, he started it especially for me, so I like to find out first what he finds of the 5 lines I found in the command prompt.

I am sure you will understand, it can wait for a minute. Don't think that I am ungrateful for you help and time, but I want to do things the right way

That's all fine Thelma. I'm glad you have patience, not everyone does. I just hope that is the solution because I put a feather in my cap and you get those speakers out of the way. By the way, my name is Brian and I truly enjoy doing this even if is just for the challenge. Like I said, I'm a stupid guy and I'm ready for a fight.
Stay sweet and I'll be waiting for what I hope is great news for 3 people.Goodnight and sleep well.

Not to jump in here, but did you Google your problem and see if any return hits give you something to try in order to fix it?
Here's a search result that is related to your problem. You may have tried these already.

"QUESTION I've lost all sound from the speakers and audio jack on my Sony laptop. I can get sound by plugging in external speakers via a USB/audio jack adaptor, however". Terry Snow

HELPROOM ANSWER: "Disconnect your headphones and speakers from the ?laptops, then visit Control Panel, Sound. Select the Playback tab and check that your preferred sound output is selected as the default device. If it isn't, highlight the preferred option and click 'Set Default'.

Next, select the Properties tab. Ensure the volume is set at an audible level under 'Levels'. Next, on the Enhancements tab, ensure no options are selected.
On the Advanced tab, for testing sake, reduce the 'Default Format' audio quality rate to '16 Bit (CD Quality)'. Click the 'Test' button. If you can hear sound, test the next setting (DVD Quality). If this also works, leave this setting selected.
If you still can't hear any sound, try using the Sony drivers for your device and updating the Bios. If this fails, you may have a problem with the speakers and should return the laptop to Sony for repair if it has a valid warranty".

    thelma,

My guess is, something happened during the copy/paste/post process. It really should not be possible for the DIR command to return the results that you posted. The second "windoes" is possible, but not the first one (C:\Windoes\winsxs).

In post #53, Anak posts a screenshot of the dir results.

Could you please post a screenshot like Anak did?
If need be, please consult this tutorial:

    Thanks.
