    windows 7 user password issue

Hi few years ago we had a small charity one of the laptops had a password so
looking on youtube was able to successfully activate cmd exe
    when I do net user
    shows
    administrator user and guest

I have tried to reset the password using
net user User * and it says successfully changed
but I can not log on
or activate Administrator even though it says
    successfully done
but it cant activate administrator even in safe mode

I have to press al ctrl delete to logon
and shows me a name that I think is still connected to the old domain

is there any way through command prompt to actually log back in

its important to keep data safe on laptop
    thankyou
    guys

Instead of trying to change the User Name, have you tried adding your own. Leave the present one on there and sign on with the one that you have added.

You will have to sign in as you have been doing. Once you are in, then read this tutorial and it will tell you what to do.

When you boot Win 7, does it give you a chance to sign on to your User Account? When booting do you see the four colored dots that come together to form the Windows logo? What is the next screen after the logo?

    when it boots
yes I see the 4 windows colours

    then once it finishes
    says Press CTRL +ALT+DELETE

once I press it just shows only 1 user profile

    DWC\waheed

Assuming that DWC is not the name of the computer:
replace DWC with the name of the computer
    replace waheed with administrator
    leave the password blank
try to sign in that way

    e.g.
    computername\administrator

If that fails, use on of the methods mentioned here to try and remove the password on the built in administrator account and then try the log on method mentioned above again.

When you get to the logon screen with the DWC, do you also see a small bar that says "Switch User"? If so, just click on it and you will see the other User's that you can sign on to.
