Indexing Options-what files should be indexed?

I have been having problems with Windows Search. Out of the blue it just stopped working the way I was used to. (I may have been one of the few that had good results from it initially. I could type something in and voila, the results would pop up in seconds, almost always with what I wanted at the top of the list. Sigh.) I noticed in the indexing options/advanced, under file types there are hundreds of files being indexed, many of which appear to be graphics. Would these be slowing down the search? Is it possible to uncheck all the files and then just check the ones I most often use?

    Thank you for your help.

There are better search tools IF you search by file name rather than by file contents.
