Action Center flag on taskbar doesn't show red x

Hi, when I turn off my avast antivirus, the white flag on the taskbar doesn't change to the one with the red cross on it, like it used to some time ago. When I hover the pointer over it it pops up a "solve pc issues" message, and when I click on it, it says "turn on avast antivirus". So how do I get the red X flag back?

Go to Action Center in Control panel>(Left side)Change Action Center settings click on that and you should be able to choose which security messages will be displayed;tick Spyware and related protection and Virus protection.

If it's already ticked try this: Action Center>(In the middle)Security (list will drop) >"Virus Protection" -Turn on messages about virus protection ; Spyware and unwanted software protection -Turn on messages about Spyware and unwanted software protection.

Thanks, that solved the problem. I had everything turned on except spyware. When I turned on the spyware notifications, the flag turned red with 2 notifications, 1 for the antivirus and one for the spyware. Then I proceeded to turn off messages for spyware and related protection, so I am left with the antivirus notification only. Strange huh, but it worked.

    Glad it did!

Upon restarting windows, and having disabled spyware notifications, the problem returned. No red X flag when I disable avast. So I guess I will have to keep both antivirus and spyware notifications on, even if I only need the antivirus notification. No big deal, I consider the problem solved. And thanks again.
