Best way to prevent others from using my comp

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me the best way to prevent others from using my computer? The user account password is easy to bypass and remove so can anyone tell me a better way that is impossible to bypass without passwords or info?

    Hello pestbest,

I am not sure what you mean,
You can use admin or user accounts with a password.
You could lock the door of the room where your computer is.
You could use a BIOS password, and turn your computer off if you are not there.
    Just some hints.

    Hello Pestbest,

I suppose that you could use a USB key with BitLocker to protect your computer from unauthorized access. They cannot use the computer without the USB key plugged in. This tutorial below will give you more details about how to do this if you wanted to.

BitLocker Drive Encryption - Windows 7 Drive - Turn On or Off with no TPM

    Hope this helps,

Admin or User Accounts with password ain't good enough as my brother can remove it via safe mode administrator account.
The room is shared so I can't lock it.
How do I use a BIOS Password?

But does it work in Windows XP SP3? My laptop uses Windows XP SP3. Don't tell me to hide it cause I'm too lazy and would only do that as a last resort.

I am not sure how you can enter the BIOS and set a password, I just discovered your system specs and have seen you are using an Apple computer.

Here you got a link, I hope this will help you.
    Apple - Support - Discussions - bios password ...

This is a feature in Windows 7 instead, and not in XP. I'm not sure about it working right or not if you are dual booting with XP and Windows 7 though.

Will try it now. I'm running a Penryn Macbook but using Windows XP via Bootcamp. I will try now and update this post. I'm not dual booting Windows XP and 7. XP is the main OS and that's all.

Setting a BIOS password will do you no good.
It is very easy to reset a bios password (Unplug the computer, remove the battery, reset your CMOS). That is a hell of a lot easier to bypass than resetting the Windows Password.

If it is your computer, why do you let your brother have an ADMIN account???
    just curious.

Best way is remove the battery, hide it with the power cord in a place where he don't know. Without power, how can he turn it on?
