Acer Predator G3-605-E Windows 7 Install? Possible?

Hey Guys, I just ordered an Acer Predator G3-605_E and it is shipping with Win 8.1! I need to install Win 7 ! Can this be done or does it depend on if I can change the Bios Settings? I read somewhere that there isn't any UEFI spot in the bios to change that setting.. I know that's one important setting and I know of a few others that I have to change, I guess my question is , will there be a possibility that I wont be able to install Win 7 on this machine? Or you can ALWAYS down grade to Win 7 .. The drivers may be an issue too, I just went to Acers website and they ONLY have the drivers for this for Win 8.1 !!! Being the machine never came with win 7 .. ANY thoughts would be helpful! Thanks in advance!

Have you got a retail version of the Windows 7 version you wish to install? I don't know how it is in your part of the world but in the UK the seller of a PC with Windows pre installed is liable to give support for the OS for a stated period. If this applies in your country then you would loose that support by changing the Operating System!

Hi -- Here is a tutorial on changing your Win 8 to Win 7. Just follow it and you should not have any problems.
Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7 Have you purchased your Win 7 disc yet? They are still around but you need to be careful. There are some sites that have you download the file. You have no idea what you are getting in the download. You are much better off to find a Win 7 disc from a reputable buyer. Ebay can not be trusted for software. If you all ready have a Win 7 disc, that is better. Let us know if any more help needed.

Thanks for your replies , I do have a retail copy of win 7 my issues were if I got it install getting all the drivers for the system, Acers website only have the drivers for Win 8.1 .... That's my worries , not sure if it will be worth my time to go through the motions and not get the drivers to install, most likely the win 8 drivers won't work with win 7' sound, wireless internet, usb 3.0 etc etc

Win 7 has about ever driver you need on the CD. The only one I had to add later was the one to get me connected to the internet. All others were on the disc. That has been the general response for the guys on the Forum also. Don't let that be a concern.

Thanks... I saw 2 drivers for my the wireless network card on Acers website, but it was for Win 8.1 !If that doesnt work I would be screwed.. I found a HP machine yesterday with almost the same specs, and it came with Win 7 Prf installed and Win !0 Prof restore discs.. That would make my life much easier.. But Im sure I can get the other machine to work but not 100 percent.. LOL

Run Belarc Advisor and get the manufacturers detail of the wireless card, then go to the manufacturers website and find a driver for Windows7. Before you do that, Download Macrium Reflect and take a backup image of your C drive to an external drive. No point is saving the backup to your C drive!! Make sure you create a Macrium rescue disc. Verify the image in Macrium and then if things go wrong you can easily get back to where you were when you created the backup.

Very good idea Mitchell65. If the Win 7 try is no good, then the Image of your Win 8 could be restored in about 15 minutes and you would be back like you are now.
