How to encrypt my OS and Secondary Hard Drives?

I was recommended a program from my cousin a while back called Truecrypt but i have been reading it is discontinued and has security vulnerabilities ect. Are there any other programs i could use to encrypt my data?

VeraCrypt is an updated fork of TrueCrypt that many people including myself like very much.

TrueCrypt is perfectly fine for most usages and remains an excellent choice. In particular because an independient audit has been conducted and concluded it's safe (contratry to what the authors say, ironically). But yes, it's no longer developed, even though it's a very good option to recommend.
