    Intermittent freezing and unfreezing

    ***UPDATED POST IN PAGE 2***LINK TO .dmp FILE***

    Hi everyone,

    I just built my new PC about a month ago and I've noticed an issue that doesn't happen all the time. I've narrowed it down to it happening only after my computer has been idle for an extended period. The idle time may vary. Sometimes its been idle for 2 hours and it happened, other times for longer than that, other times it doesn't happen even after 6-7 hrs of being idle.

    So I may get intermittent freezing and unfreezing = my computer freezes for 6 seconds (the last 2 times I timed it) and then unfreezes and it may remain unfrozen for a 1-5 mins before freezing again.

    When this problem happens I also get a visual inconsistency = When I move my mouse cursor and it causes it to change from the arrow, to the hand, or to the I, it wont turn back to the arrow unless I move it over something that causes it to do so. Also, it prevents me from increasing the size of a not fully maximized window. My mouse cursor just jumps above or below the edge, but it wont let me grab the edge.

    Let me know what I can do to provide you guys with more info.

    I updated my system specs.

    Let's start with the most basic, firstly run a quick scan with any AV suite you have currently installed, if you don't have any active AV protection, then my suggestion would be to install and fully update with Microsoft Security Essentials.

    Then complete scans with Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware.

    Remember to install the free version of Malwarebytes not the free trail; untick the free trial box during installation.

    I ran both of those already. Didn't detect anything. I use Avast btw.

    Are you using the 320.18 nVidia driver?

    if so try reverting back to 314 or even 306.

    Im using the 320.18. Should I manually uninstall this driver before installing the 314?

    Also, Im using the new Asus monitor of 144hz connected with a display port cable. Just thought I'd mention that just in case its something about those 2 things.

    Oh and I wanted to say as well: I was told to upgrade my SSD's firmware which was 040H and I changed it to 070H and the issue happened again anyway.

    Yes it;s recommended you uninstall the current one then go into safe mode and use driver sweeper to clean any left over from the current driver.
    While installing the "new" driver choose the "preform a clean install" option :).

    Ok so, I was looking around in my event viewer (forgot to do this before) and I've noticed an error that I get every day called WMI. The error number it gives me every time is: 0x80041003

    I ran a windows WMI Diagnosis Utility and it obviously said that there are a lot of errors but I don't understand anything of what was reported.

    I attached the result that I got. Please let me know whats going on here and if that's what's causing my system to freeze and unfreeze after idle periods.

    Personally, I've never used the WMI Diagnosis Utility and have never read the log before, but from reading the log, I was able to see a few possible causes.

    Firstly, there appears to be something wrong with your registry, have you made any alterations or used any PC Performance/Optimizers or Registry Cleaners?

    Code:
    28882 10:51:04 (0) ** Unexpected, wrong or missing registry key values: ................................................................... 1 KEY(S)!
    28883 10:51:04 (0) ** INFO: Unexpected registry key value:
    28884 10:51:04 (0) **   - Current:  HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WBEM\CIMOM\Logging (REG_SZ) -> 0
    28885 10:51:04 (0) **   - Expected: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WBEM\CIMOM\Logging (REG_SZ) -> 1
    Why have you disabled your UAC? I strongly suggest you enable the UAC again, following these instructions - User Account Control - UAC - Change Notification Settings

    Code:
    28735 10:51:04 (0) ** INFO: User Account Control (UAC): ................................................................................... DISABLED.

    I dont remember doing any of those things. The only thing I did when I set up my PC was to make user folder to be on drive D instead of C. Is that what it is?

    I wouldn't say so, have you tried a System Restore before this problem happened? Backup any important files and data before you perform the restore.

    I would also suggest performing a deeper scan of your system for any malicious programs or activity:
