Driver Problem, CHDSK Problem, Recommendations Needed

Few questions...

I have an MSI FX420 running Windows 7 Pro SP1 32-bit

1. Seems like my built-in webcam isn't functioning even if I try to turn it on via Fn+F6 (the hotkey). There's also a bunch of drivers that seem to be missing in Device Manager.

Where can I go to make sure I have the latest drivers? People say not to use a 3rd party Driver Updater tool. I've been using Auslogics Driver Updater simply because I am a fan of their products (I use Boost Speed and Disk Defrag).

2. chkdsk won't work. scannow /sfc found some corrupt files but whenever I try and reboot doing both chkdsk/f and chkdsk /f AND chdskdsk /f /r, it always tells me the disk checking has been cancelled. Not sure what to do. I tried going into safe mode with command prompt but it told me the drive was locked and was in use. Recovery console didn't work (Bitdefender has its own recovery mode)...the command terminal it provides doesn't even recognize the chkdsk command.

3. What do you guys recommend for cleaning and optimization? I have CCleaner and Auslogics Boostspeed. CCleaner seems like a small tool that cleans thoroughly and has great reviews and uses very little memory in the background while it actively monitors your system (though I'm not exactly sure what it monitors). Boostspeed has some nifty tools that claims to smooth out your system but uses a lot of memory in the background (Driver Upater also uses up a lot of memory).

4. is there a speed tool for windows startup? There are lots of 3rd party tools that tests a website's loading speed and tells you what scripts/files load up how fast/slow in which order, but curious to know if there is a speed test for a computer that tells you which programs launch in which order and what speed?

5. Lastly, what do you guys recommend for disk defrag? Auslogics disk defrag (free) or Piriform's Defraggler? Lotta different opinions out there.

1.Know your products name and search for drivers manually.
Don't use any third-party driver updating software.It's bloatware.

2.I would suggest to back your data and reinstall Windows.

3.Cleaning and optimization:
-CCleaner (disabled monitoring,I don't need that)
-Disk cleanup
-Disk defragment

4.I heard for Bootracer,but I've never used it and I don't know will it suit your needs.

5.I used MyDefrag and I was quite satisfied.I suggest it.
Additionally,Windows disk defragment does pretty fine job also.

How much RAM does that laptop have?

Its got 4gb ram.

Then you should have 64 bit version of Windows,one more reason to re-install.
Believe me,sometimes it's better to re-install it and set it up (it'll only take you a few hours).

Give me 5 reasons where a re-install is a good option.

My computer loads up fine. I just have some programs I might need to uninstall. My webcam driver is not working....no big deal. I can boot into both safe mode and normal mode just fine. Again, why reinstall? I don't believe in resetting everything and losing all of my data if mostly everything works decent. I reset my browser though lol....no big deal....just gotta put in the add-ons I need.

If SFC /SCANNOW couldn't fix corrupted files isn't that a hell of a reason to end your "suffer".
Also you're using x86 version of Windows.Since you have 4Gbytes of RAM,it's recommended to use x64 version of Windows so it can utilize all RAM and handle multitasking better.
It's good from time to time,to fresh-install operating system as system can get bloated.

You can always back up your data.

Is that an 2nd gen i3 or i5 processor laptop?

Just to post an update on the issue...

This is a Intel Pentium laptop.

I used Glary Utilities to fix the chkdsk issue. Not sure what happened....maybe it was a Registry error but Glary got chkdsk to work. Will run sfc scannow some other day but it's not really an issue.

Dude, you seriously need to do better in your recommendations to computer problems.... anyone who says "re-install" will "fix" problems without trying all alternatives first is an idiot.
