    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
        <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>
    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    I don't really understand your question, but if you are asking what I think you're asking...

    What you are seeing there is a standard .NET error message. Seatools can't find something that it needs to operate. The error message is telling you where and what in the program is failing. Unfortunately, it's telling you so much detail, the message is useless. It's not telling you what file or assembly it needs.

    The JIT debugger won't do you much good because you have to

    A) Have a JIT debugger or Visual Studio installed on your machine
    B) Be able to understand the output from the JIT debugger
    C) And the program has to be compiled with debugging enabled to debug with JIT

    You might be missing part of the .NET framework needed for the program to run. Most Windows installations have it by now, but in case you don't, you could try downloading this and installing it from Microsoft:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=48130

    It's a web installer, and will only download the bits that you need. Try that and see if Seatools works.

    You could try SeaTools for DOS.

    Maybe these SeaGate instructions for using SeaTools for DOS will be easier for you:
    SeaTools for DOS | Seagate

    Yes, there is a learning curve for all of us when doing something new.
    You would have to learn how to download a IMG file and create/use a bootable CD for this.

    If you want to fix issues yourself and ask for help in forums, you will have to try new things and learn.
    If you have a "Geek/Tech" friend, can you ask them for hands-on help?

    Has SeaGate replied ?
    They may have better suggestions, instructions, and help.

    ok. Yes i looked at the dos instructions, my view is that if the NON dos program is meant to work i want to use it, and i dont mind putting in a bit of work in sorting it. Therefore I shouldn't need to use dos

    before i get into DOS i will explore the non dos program fully

    dont get me wrong i really appreciate anyones input but pls keep the lecture for ur kids, not appreciated

    seagate are replying but not helpful, however ive found that despite the error message saying that segate tools was not working properly ["unhandled exception has occurred" and the original msg about JIT] it still seems to be running . It's a 3 tb usb disc on a generic long test, any idea how long this might take [half way completed in 20 hours]

    thanks
