    Can't Enable Aero

Hi! I've just re-installed the OS on an Acer Aspire SA90 (desktop) - Windows 7 Home Premium (x86) I can't seem to get the Aero theme to work, when I updated the graphics driver which was the initial reson as to why it wasn't working, now it keeps saying that Desktop Window Manager is disabled when it isn't, I set it to Automatic in services.msc, and restarted the computer several times, it keeps saying it's disabled and that's the only issue. Would love some suggestions, something I could try to get aero to work, thank you.

It keeps saying DWM is disabled when it's enabled and running, basically..

Hello Deer dude mate have you run these yet?
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check - use Option 2 and if needed the /f and /r switches

    if no go then these

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/ when downloading and installing watch out for the tick box for the trial version untick it if you do not want to trial it (see below)
    AdwCleaner Download
(NB if you have Kaspersky installed it may rave on about the download – ignore it or disable it for the duration of the download/scan)

Am just asking to eliminate anything simple.

Hi and thank you for your suggestions,

I've performed the SFC scan before, it said everything was okay. I'll run chkdksk now, although if system files are fine, and the S.M.A.R.T is okay, and as this is a fresh install, I doubt it'll do any good - but it's worth trying.

This is a clean, legitimate install and I haven't put anything dodgy onto it, only official drivers from Belkin and SiS, I'd rather not scan it for malware as I'm certain it's clean

    UPDATE: diskchk found nothing

    You could try:
Going to, Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Appearance and Personalization and running the troubleshooter.

Then: Transparency - Enable or Disable

And, I'm not saying you have an unsupported version, but, stranger things have happened:
Aero - Enable in Unsupported Editions of Windows 7

Use this link: Windows 7 - Tutorial Index, then scroll down to Aero, there is more there that may apply.

I've tried everything you suggested with no luck, I'm pretty sure the integrated graphics (SiS SiS671) should support Aero (DailyTech - SiS Mirage 3 Graphics Core Details Unveiled) the DWM keeps saying it's disabled, whereas it's running, apparently

There are some good suggestions here: Aero theme problems, can't enable it

When you get to post #5, make sure you have custom selected in the Performance dialog window then it picks up again at post #9.
