I know there are already threads out for this - but looking to see if anyone has a current answer to stop Windows 7 Home Premium from automatically scrolling in the Navigation Panes. It even happens in Pro Tools audio software on the plug ins I use, which renders the program unusable.
I'm going to try a different mouse first. Any other suggestions?

It sounds like you need to turn off Automatically expand to current folder in the navigation pane.

It's already not expanded. Hasn't this been an issue for other people as well? I've read through some of the forums and found the same issue discussed, and no solution has been found. I wanted to create a new thread on that subject to see if there has been any updates on this problem..
It also does this left to right, too on the horizontal point of view. This is very annoying.
You can (temporarily) avoid the Navigation pane auto-scroll by making sure that you only use the tiny arrows to navigate.
When I was searching for an answer to this annoying bug (sorry ... feature) I found this:If you are using "List" view (in the main pane) I don't think that you can stop Windows Explorer from auto-scrolling.If you expand any folder in the left-hand pane without first clicking on the folder to display the contents in the right hand pane, the folder will remain in its current position and expand as it has in past versions of Windows. I.E. - The folder stays in its position under the mouse cursor unless there are a sufficient number of sub-folders to force the folder to scroll up.
However, if you first click on the folder to display its contents in the right-hand pane and THEN click to expand the folder, it will jump (or scroll) to the bottom of the left-hand pane.
This will occur even if there are enough sub-folders that it would normally scroll UP.
But, this action will only happen the first time you click through the sequence of displaying the contents and then expanding.
After that (until you open Explorer again) it works correctly -- the folder will maintain its location in the left-hand pane (under the mouse cursor) unless there are enough sub-folders to force it to scroll up.
So, if this action only happens when if you first click the folder to display the contents in the right-hand pane and then doesn't happen again (with that folder) in the current Explorer session, it can't possibly be by design or working as intended.
You could try using a different view for the main pane.
I use "Details" view for all folders except picture folders, where I use "Large Icons" view.
Another option would be to use a 3rd party file manager.
I use FreeCommander when I need to do something other than basic file management.
I'm actually still using the old version; FreeCommander 2009.02b.
It's happening before I even click a folder. It will scroll to the bottom right. It was working fine 2 days ago, and I didn't use the computer yesterday, started using it today and it is happening. It doesn't have anything to do with IE. It happens everywhere, even in my Pro Tools program. I ran a scan for malware, nothing found. I'm going to mess around with Kaspersky now.
