Ethernet cable choice

Sorry for what must be a daft question.
Too many choices!
I want to buy a fifty metre long cable to connect my router (supplied by Fleur) in the house to the back of my elderly bench-top pc in the garage, both of which require a fitting with a little tab sticking out. This means buying a cable with the same fitting at either end, it seems.
My b'band speed is about 6Mbps, which is faster than me.
Do I need a 'patch cable' or a cord, or what?

Well not really it's a good question :)
You might wait before purchasing and see if any one would know if there's a big difference between cat 5 and cat 6 beside the price :)

I really like cables matters though they have good products.

Back in the day, not that long ago, we'd buy X yards of cable and put our own RJ45 on them.
No crimper. 4 twisted pairs using only pins 1,2,3 and 6. Old skool. What can I tell ya.
CAT-5, CAT-5e, CAT-6, CAT-7 Patch Cables. Cat5e not rated for outside use.

The best choice for this cable is CAT6 cable, due to the long length of the run. It will be more immune to noise and interference that way, and the signal loss will be minimal.

Also, if you are going to run this outside without conduit (which I don't recommend you do if you want the cable to last long), get a cable that is at least UV rated. That way, the cable's jacket won't degrade in a year if you don't use conduit.
