    C Drive Enlargement


    I'm on Windows 7 HP 64 bit and would like to know if it's possible to do the following. I recently changed the C drive 64GB SSD to a 223GB SSD as I wanted to install the Flight simulator FSX on the same C drive. Every thing is working fine except I'm now running out of space.
    Would it be possible to put the old 64GB back in the computer and somehow and join it to the 223GB C drive to get more space.
    I would like to do this without disturbing the OS and FSX I have already installed. I would appreciate any help.

    Put a SSD in wife's laptop and stuck the original 500g spinner in a caddy in place of the optical drive. She never really used CD's and if ever needed a USB drive will always do.

    You don't say if you have a laptop or desktop you are working on. If it is a desktop with room for another SSD to be added, an easier thing to do is leave the big SSD as it is and put in the small SSD and make it a D: drive (or whatever the next letter is) and put any programs on it. You would not notice any difference in the speed of the programs opening.

    I think what you want is a junction point. With it, you can still use, say, the C:\my documents folder, but it will actually point to, say, the D:\documents folder. From the user point of view, it's entirely seamless. See MKLINK Create and Use Links in Windows for a tutorial.

    Of course you can :)

    Every drive connected to the motherboard is just a storage area for C, they`re all connected.

    But I wouldn`t waste your time with a 64 GB drive. Use it for a page file :)

    Processor:Intel i7-920 (OC@4.0Ghz)
    Processor Cores:4 Treads:8
    Processor Speed:5.0 GHz
    RAM:12 GB DDR3-1600 MHz
    Video Board Manufacturer: ATI
    Video Board Model:Radeon HD 5850 x2
    Video Memory: 1 GB x2
    Mother Board: X58 CHIPSET P6T SE
    Hard Drives:3= 1x 223GB SSD 2x 1.5TB SATA11
    Monitor: Samsung 24" 1920x1080
    Operating System: Windows 7 ULT 64-bit
    Joystick: Saitek

    Just to be clear, what I want to do is to put the 64GB SSD back in the computer and join it to the 223GB SSD C drive in order to make more space on the C drive

    There is really no reason to try and make both SSD the C: You probably could, but why not just add the small SSD as a D: drive an use it for additional storage for your programs or personal files. You do not gain anything by making both a C: drive. In fact I would suggest against it. If one drive goes bad, it will mess up both if they are both C: Just make one a D: (or what ever the next letter that is available) and things will go smooth.

    This is not a good idea. For C you need a maximum of 60GB. The rest is data and can go anywhere.

    I would make the 64GB SSD my C drive and use the big SSD for data.

    How do you run out of space on a 223 GB ssd , when you have 2 1.5 TB hard drives ????? I`m stumped

    I was advised to install my FSX (154GB) on this drive. Maybe not such a good idea.
