In post 1 you say after initial power outage causing problems you wiped again, how did you do this were you able to boot to dban ? if so how did you do it ?
Do you know how to access your one time boot menu (commonly F11 or F12 on power up)
To be doubly sure in bios you could try moving DVD to entry 1 and HDD to entry 2 ruling out all other entries ??
Hello yes I was able to boot dban a second time by pressing f12 and going into boot CD/DVD the first wipe when I turned my
computer on I was getting the same message I posted
I have also moved these to the above places but I still can not boot the windows 7 disk starting to give up now do you think this is an internal problem
It's a long time since I last wiped my HD using Dban but I do remember that when fresh installing windows it was better to:
Boot from a Linux Live USB use the partition manager to delete any existing partitons then create a new one to install windows onto - setting the flag to boot.
Create a Windows 7 installer USB and install windows by booting from it.
Possibly you can use Gparted USB rather than a Linux Live USB with partitioning tools.
I will let other members comment as it has been a long time since I wiped using Dban and I don't even remember what Linux distro I used. Possibly Knoppix or Puppy.
Try booting the dban disk again using F12 method, if this works and win 7 doesn't then it may be a problem with your installation media
What are you trying to install from ?
You could try creating a new dvd and/or usb drive to install from
Ok so I have bunrntva copy of dban to a disk and that runs no problem, now the windows 7 I have is shop bought and this won't run on startup pressing F12 I have used dban in the past and never run into this problem, have I messed my computer up wiping to many times and is my best Ber installing from usb , thanks all for the help
I see no reason why it wouldn't boot from disk, the content (or lack of) on the HDD will make no difference.
When you hit F12 with win dvd inserted what options do you see ?
note * if you see two entries on the boot list, one with UEFI/EFI and one without be sure to try them both
Regards usb installation if you have the capability to do it ie another machine to create usb then theres no harm in trying, nothing to lose
Hello when I hit f12 with win7 in I get these options
CD/DVD1: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7710H
HDD1: ST3500413AS
Network1: IBA GE Slot 00C8 v1365
Enter Setup
I can't see anything to do with UEFI/EFI also when I try to run win7 I get the message I posted first and it doesn't boot up, thanks for the help
How do you know the install dvd is any good, if the computer doesn`t see the disc, it`s not gonna boot from it.
Take your pc to the shop where you got the disc, ask them to try to boot from it, they know best.
If you use the boot menu and try to boot from the dvd drive and nothing happens, then that means the install media is no good.
Obviously your optical drive works.
