The big hype the best I can tell is because W-10 is free.
I try to remember that the line to Get your free candy here is always longer than the line Buy your candy here.
Dog droppings are free but I don't go looking for them in my yard and put them in my home.
My best suggestion is if you are curious, do a install of W-10 on it's own drive and run it for a while.

That is what I did. I didn't like it so I wiped the drive and I'm still a happy camper with my Windows 7 systems.
When and if W-10 gets better I will give it another try.
I will not waste one of my Windows 7 keys for W-10.
If you want to rid yourself of the nags from Microsoft, there is a list here of the Updates that you want to HIDE and also delete from your machine. This is actually important as Microsoft will do anything to try to force you to go to W10.
Something not often mentioned is the invasive nature of W10 being FREE after you surrender your W7 key. The EULA allows some info gathering that I will not allow ever.
I'm in no great hurry to update/upgrade. It seems many can't wait to get to the next OS offered which never has made sense to me. Those guys on another forum I mentioned keep insisting W10 is the greatest thing since sliced bread. They may find out it will turn into toast for them. These were some reasons sited to me....

With Windows 7 in its death throes, Microsoft reveals the Skylake systems that retain support
These articles make strong arguments as to why anyone out there using anything other than Windows 10 should make the switch especially if you are eligible for the free Win 10 update. "
What does this statement mean?
"Dell didn’t respond to our requests for clarification by press time on what this actually means. But for many, the issue boils down to this: Microsoft will end its support for Broadwell PCs on Windows 7 in 2020. But support for Windows 7 PCs running on top of Skylake will end “early,” in 2017—and that, to many, is just unfair. Dell may try to soften that unexpectedly hard landing. "
What's the difference between those two?
I'm still wondering what Dell refers to as support :)
Once the 3 to 12 months is gone after a purchase a owner is pretty much on it's own unless extended support is purchased
M$ well we all know what they mean only critical updates which quite frankly I look forward too after this win-10 updates fiasco which I'm sure will not end in July of 2016 :)
Yep, you`ll get yelled at then banned.
