    .Exe files have Games icon

Not all, but may of my exe files have the default games icon associated with them. I went into files associations & tried to change the default icon, but it didn't change anthing.

Anybody know whats going on here and how I can fix things?? Or is the game icon the default icon for exe file to begin with?

See the attached screen shot for clarification

Hello Jim, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Try downloading and merging the EXE download in the tutorial below. It restores the default entries for it the registry, and may be able to restore the default icon as well after restarting the computer.

    Hope this helps,

Perhaps rebuilding the icon cache may help. If not, then doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this happened may be able to fix it.
