Stressed : Hang / Freeze installing Win7. Sherlock holmes, save me.

Hi all. I've been building PC's awhile but I'm starting to get quite stressed and hung up over an issue I'm having with my new build. I cannot get passed the initial start up during Windows 7 installation. Just as the "starting windows" animation gets going, it stops. The system stops responding. Tried on a USB stick as well as on DVD. Same problem.

    Ugh.

    My build is as follows...

    Asus P8Z68m-Pro
Coolermaster G550M (Pulled from my previous working system)
    3570k
    4 GB Corsair DDR 3 1600
    Evo 850 250gb
    Win 7 Pro

As I type I'm running memtest86 on the system and it's coming out fine. I really don't know what else I can do. If this is a hardware issue, how an earth would I even begin to diagnose it. There's a complete lack of any sort of error message. The system just stops in its tracks. Bad mobo. Bad CPU. Bad Ram. Bad PSU?

CPU temps are OK. I can play around in Bios all day with no issues. I have crossed checked the settings so many times. See, I really enjoy playing a tweaking PC's, but when these zero-sum errors with no apparent causes run the show, I feel that this isn't the hobby for me

And no, I can't RMA anything. Bought all the parts second hand as I didn't see any incentive to pay the premium to upgrade to Skylake. I just don't need the 15-20 % improvement in performance.

Hi facebook and Welcome to WSF. Did you set the bios Boot Device Control to UEFI and Legacy? And Boot from any devices to Legacy OPROM first? Just a thought.

    It's a good point, but I can't find any such option :-/
