On my Win7 32 bit desktop I have downloaded a file that has malware in it. It will NOT let me delete the file so I thought I would go into safe mode to delete it.
I have tried everything I know to get into Safe Mode. I restarted and kept pressing the F8 keep repeatedly and it still just booted into regular mode.
I then tried restarting and holding down the F8 key. That did NOT work either.
Any suggestions ???
Can you get into your bios ?
Keep tapping the F2 or Delete key or F12 ?
If you make it there disable fast or quick startup in the boot section
If F8 gives you only a boot menu select the drive to boot to and repeat F8 asap
You might get windows safe mode/ with networking... options.
Another suggestion is to add Safe Mode to Boot Loader so that you get the option to boot into safe mode every boot.

Then you don't need to mess about pressing F8.
Another way to do the same thing:
Install Vista Boot Pro: VistaBootPRO Download
It works on Windows 7 too,
Run the software and click on "Manage OS Entries" tab. Ignore any warning.
Enable the "Add New OS Entry" checkbox at the bottom of the window. Type "Windows 7 Safe Mode" in the OS Name box.
Select "OS Type" as "Windows Vista". This is correct and will work in Windows 7.
Select "OS Drive" as C: or whatever frive letter you use for your Windows Partition.
Click on "Apply Updates" button.
Next type msconfig in the Start> Run dialog box. Go to the boot tab. Select the "Windows 7 safe mode" entry shown in the window and make sure that "Safe Boot" and "Minimal" boxes appear checked.
Click Apply
When ypu reboot you'll see two options:
Boot inro Windows 7
and
Boot into "Safe Mode Windows 7"
Just use the arrow keys to select.
That gets around any problem with F8 not working so that you can hopefully delete your problem files.
Another way to do that is simply to go to MSCONFIG and specify Safe Mode on the boot tab. Then reboot and let Windows go there automatically.
But you should be able to nuke that file in standard mode by opening a CMD window (type cmd in start menu, then right-click and select "open as administrator"), navigating to c:\users\<username>\desktop, and entering DEL <filename>
